When the day is shortest, and the night is long, Create & bring a token of what you want to bring into your life in time to come, or of what you want to leave behind you - or simply some small JOY.
People have left luminaries, works of art, words written out, figurines, LED candles, poetry and more - bring what feels 'Wright' to you and add it under the Great Red Oak at the Conservatory in Tacoma's Wright Park, with good in your intention
12-21-2020 was the Original First Night. We installed a Chrysalis of Hope at the Great Red Oak at the Conservatory in Wright Park
The Origins of Winter Solstice Traditions Extend to Humanity's Ancient Past & Are Reflected Today in Cultures Internationally Around the Globe. First Light is an Installation intended to bring together the disparate people of our city in acknowledgment of how all of us are related through this wondrous thing called Life. Together, we cultivate JOY in our city.
Stars 4 Peace Origins
In 2012 an independent collaboration of Artists happened to bring an illuminated celebration to our City of Destiny (Tacoma, WA) with the help of Olympia's Procession of the Species' Earthbound Productions. We surprised local beloved musician Vicci Martinez for her birthday homecoming show after her national tour following The Voice, at the Pantages Theater in Tacoma, WA. Vicci was born on the International Day of Peace, and so that night, Sept 22 2012, Stars aligned with Peace through music, and Stars 4 Peace were born.
Since, we converted attention gained into much needed resources for people in need across a large array of populations directly, and a great number of people have been touched. Also, we as a music community celebrate peace in our city in a city-wide event we call Destiny Saturday every year, 1 Saturday close to the International Day of Peace.
To see more about what we do, and how to be part of what we're doing, please visit Stars4Peace.org or contact us via the link here. Thank you in Peace
